Newly appointed Somali ambassador to India presents diplomatic credentials

Somalia’s new ambassador to subcontinent India Faduma Abdullahi Mohamud presented her diplomatic credentials to President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi on Saturday.

Mrs. Abdullahi was appointed to represent her country in New Delhi following Ministry of foreign Affairs reshuffle that transferred her from Switzerland where she served as the permanent representative to the UN office in Geneva.

She is credited for lobbying Somalia to elected as a member of the Human Rights Council in October 2018 where Somalia, alongside other 17 member states will serve a three-year term in the significant UN council.

Ambassador Abdullahi was replaced by ambassador Abyan Salah who is in her Geneva office after her service in India as Somalia’s ambassador.

Hundreds of Somali citizens visit India for studies and medical issues every year.
