Somali National Army (SNA) has destroyed Al-Shabaab bases in Lower Shabelle region on Friday.
Military officials said Somali military has engaged in a gun battle with al-Shabaab fighters during a security operation in Jilib Marka village.
The army confiscated a huge cache of weapons left by the group.
During the operation, the army killed four al-Shabaab fighters and wounded several others.
The officials did not comment on the casualties on Somali forces.
The development comes hours after the Somali army killed 10 al-Shabaab fighters in clashes on the outskirt of Marka town.
According to state-owned media, Somali forces raided al-Shabaab fighters prompting heavy fighting between the sides which left ten fighters dead.
Somali military said the forces were on tips off by the public that the fighters were planning to launch a heavy attack on SNA and AMISOM bases in Marka town.
Al-Shabaab, which now control remotes villages in Middle and Lower Shabelle region near the capital has not commented on the attacks and the victories claimed by Somali military.
Recent months, Somali forces backed by AU troops have intensified operations against Al-Shabaab in central and southern Somalia, which led to the liberation of several towns and villages.
