Somali finance minister, Abdirahman Duale Beileh has attended the Horn of Africa Initiative meeting in the United States.
The meeting which took place on Friday aimed at developing regional infrastructure, facilitating trade and economic integration.
The ministers have agreed to enhance resilience and human capital.
“I participated in the Horn of Africa Initiative meeting with colleagues from other member states during the Annual Meetings this evening. Regional cooperation & interconnectivity is important for common development,” the Finance minister said in a Twitter post.
According to the statement, the Minister stressed that regional cooperation and interconnectivity is important for common development.
The ministers have agreed to cooperate on the economy, security as well as trade.
In separate, while addressing the participants at Brookings Global, the minister discussed Somalia’s economic reform successes, challenges, and efforts to develop & progress through debt clearance.
Beileh stressed that his government is truly committed to successfully completing the economic reforms roadmap.
“Somalia’s economic reform successes to escape fragility & move forward to progress through debt clearance are the first priority. Somalia’s pivotal moment to move forward is now & the government is truly committed to successfully completing SMP4,” he said.
