The leader of Somaliland’s main opposition political party, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi has broken police roadblock to access Wadani party headquarters in Hargeysa on Monday.
The anti-riot police tried to stop the convoy of the leader together with supporters by firing live bullets in the air but failed.
Abdirahman Mohamed who later addressed the media in his office called for calm and blamed president Muse Bihi government for dictatorship.
He urged officials in the region to gather at party headquarters in the region to drive the agenda of the party.
A standoff between the party supporters and the police was witnessed in the capital on Monday morning following the arrest of two senior Wadani party members.
Secretary-General, Khadar Hussein Abdi and party Spokesman, Barkhad Jama Batuun were arrested by the police separately in Hargeysa on Sunday evening.
Police commissioner, Brigadier-General Mohamed Adan Sanqadhi Mohamoud warned against any public gathering without police knowledge.
There is a heavy presence of police in the city to quell standoff between two supporters of main political parties.
