Somalia’s opposition political party, Himilo Qaran has expelled its secretary-general, Abdihakin Ahmed Maalim.
The decision to eject Maalim who is also a member of the Somali Lower House of parliament was reached by the party executive committee on Tuesday.
The move is linked to Maalim’s stand on the ongoing selection and election process at Galmudug regional state.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the member of parliament welcomed the decision that kicked him out of the party.
“I welcome the ruling top expel me from the party the executive committee.” Maali wrote on his page.
“We deferred on key issues that failed to be resolved.” He added.
He said the decision to back the Federal Government of Somalia’s plan on the ongoing election process in Galmudug state has infuriated some members of his own party.
“I and the federal government shared the same opinion on the issues related to Galmudug state elections which have not gone well with some members.”
The former secretary-general of the party also dismissed by claims by Himilo Qaran on the presence of the none AMISOM Ethiopian troops in Dhusamareb.
