Somalia is on high alert following warning of cyclone by meteorologists along its coastline on Tuesday.
According to the meteorologist, the Indian Ocean is set to explode with tropical activity this week as multiple cyclones may develop.
The development got underway on Monday as a tropical depression developed to the east of Somalia.
Up to three additional tropical cyclones may develop across the northern and southern India Ocean before the end of the week.
The Governor of Banadir region, Omar Mohamed Mohamud, directed municipal rescue services on standby.
Mohamud who also doubles up as the mayor of the capital, Mogadishu toured the headquarters of the rescue services to assess the level of preparedness in case of an emergency.
The city has experienced heavy downpour which resulted in flash floods last week.
The police also set up a hotline (991) for people who are at risk of a life-threatening situation.
