A high-level delegation from Somalia led by Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre is expected in Geneva on Monday.
The Premier and his team will take part in a three-day Global Refugee Forum.
Forum is an opportunity to translate the principle of international responsibility-sharing into concrete action.
It will also showcase impactful pledges and contributions and the exchange of good practices.
The first Global Refugee Forum comes at the end of a tumultuous decade in which the number of refugees has risen to over 25 million people worldwide.
Despite its own challenges, Somalia generously hosts over 35,000 refugees and asylum seekers mainly from war-torn Yemen.
UNHCR’s annual Global Trends Report released on 19 June 2019 – shows that nearly 70.8 million people were displaced at the end of 2018. Some 13.6 people were newly displaced during the course of the year.
