Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has launched the national development plan on Monday.
The ninth development plan focuses on four key areas including security, politics, economic development, and environment/climate change.
The five plan which also lays out a vision for poverty reduction, improved infrastructure, strengthening public institutions, inclusive politics, strengthening justice and national security was prepared by the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development led by a cabinet minister, Gamal Mohamed.
“It is great to launch this five-year national development prepared by our own Somali experts which will be the foundation for state-building.” President Farmajo said during the launch in Mogadishu.
The head of state added that the presentation of his government’s national development plan for the next five years is a commitment towards the improvement of governance based on strong judiciary and equality before the law.
The event was attended by various senior government officials including the Deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Mohamed Guled, the Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Omar Mohamed Mohamud, cabinet members as well as members of the national assembly.
