Mayor of Mogadishu who also doubles up as the Governor of Banadir region, Omar Mohamed Mohamud chaired weekly security meetings in his office on Wednesday.
The meeting which was attended by district commissioners and regional security chiefs focused on ways to beef up the security of the capital out of armed al-Shabaab attacks as well as the garbage and sanitation issues.
The district officials presented their weekly security reports and progress made on various fronts.
On the other hand, community development, garbage collection, house number sign was also top on the agenda.
The Governor, Omar Mohamed Mohamud called upon the district officials to work towards sustainable security plans in their respective districts.
Terror attacks in Mogadishu have reduced in the past months following increased checkpoints and security operations in Somali capital and surrounding regions.
Somali National Army backed by AMISOM peacekeepers has launched an offensive against the group by taking key strategic areas mainly in the Lower Shabelle region.
