Somalia’s State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Abdi Kariye has announced his resignation from the post on Tuesday.
He made the statement in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug state where he is gearing up for upcoming regional state leadership elections where he is one of the front runners.
Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye famously known as Qoor-Qoor was involved in the campaign in past months to secure the leadership of the significant region.
However, he is facing strong competition from former Interior Minister, Abdirahman Odowa and Wadajir party candidate and former Villa Somalia chief of staff, Kamal Gutale.
89 new members of Galmudug parliament were sworn in a day ago as expected to decide the next President of the state in forthcoming days after selecting the speaker of the assembly and his two deputies on Friday.
