Somali prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire has extended condolences to the families of legendary Somali musician who passed on Friday in Jigjiga town of Somali regional State in Ethiopia.
Daud Ali Mashaf, who was famous his mastery of the oud died at Jigjiga General following short illness.
In a Twitter post, Prime Minister Hassan has sent his condolences to the family of the singer.
“My condolences go out to the family of the singer. This is a big loss not only to you and your family. I pray that God grants the family the strength and courage to bear this tragic loss,” the Twitter reads in part.
The singer joined the famous Waaberi Band in the 1970s.
Born in Jowhar, Somalia, Mashaf was better known as Musbaah in his hometown where he grew up before launching a career in music in 1980s.
Besides his performances with Waaberi Band, Mashaf also produced his own songs which became hits in territories occupied by Somali people.
