Two al-Shabaab ring leaders have been killed in Middle Shabelle region following security operations by Somali army.
According to Somali National News Agency (SONNA), special forces carried out a military operation.
The agency reported two Al-Shabaab senior commanders and several others wounded during the military operation in the outskirts of Balad town. The forces also destroyed Shabaab based in the area.
This military operation is part of the huge efforts made by the national army to eliminate the terrorists and secure the roads between the cities of Balad and Jowhar.
The operations comes two days after Somali national army killed six Shabaab fighters in Qoryoley town of Lower Shabelle region.
Shabaab control number villages in the region as it lost major towns including Qoryoolay, Afgooye, Marka, Janaane and other to SNA forces.
Following heavy military operations by Somali army, the group opted hit and run tactics.
Shabaab which once was powerful group had lost almost all its territories including the capital after their fighters were defeated by Somali army backed by AMISOM.
