Somali Security agencies in Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest state arrested suspected armed group al- Shabaab member who was planning a suicide attack.
Police raided the house where Issack Nishow was staying following a tipoff from members of the public and recovered a suicide vest, AK47 and magazines of ammunition.
According to Security officials, Nishow arrived in the city on Monday in order to embark on the bombing attack.
He is expected to be arraigned in court to answer charges.
In another related security incident in the Southwest regional state, authorities confirmed the surrender of al- Shabaab defector Aden Ibrahim Abdi alias Aden Gacma-Dhere.
He surrendered to authorities on Monday after defecting from the armed group saying he was based in the Sanguni area in Lower Jubba region.
The defections follow after reported US airstrike mainly in the Juba regions where the group has a strong presence.
A press conference from US Africa Command on Sunday confirmed the death of one al-Shabaab fighter and injuries of two in Kunya Barow area.
Pentagon reiterated its support to Somali armed forces to counter al Qaida linked groups in the country.
