The forces seized two lorries laden with improvised explosive devices near Bulo-gaduud village, according to Ismail Abdimalik, the commander of 16th division of Somali commandos.
Speaking to the media, Abdimalik said the forces succeeded to wrest the two vehicles which purportedly heading Kismayo town.
“The vehicles were intercepted following tip off and there is no alarm, we have also cleared the way from al-Shabaab,” he said.
The commander noted that during the operations, the forces killed several al-Shabaab fighters following confrontation.
“The forces killed number of terrorists who attempted to resist, we have secured the main supply route,” the commander stated.
It is not clear if the drivers of the vehicles were captured.
