Qatar constructs new embassy in Somalia after 35 years hiatus

Qatari government is constructing a new premise for its embassy in Mogadishu for first time in three decades.

According to photos posted online by director of Planning and International Relations at the Ministry of Information in Somalia, Abdirahman Ahmed, the construction of embassy is about to be finished soon.

The photos show large building with decorations.

It is planned to be the second largest embassy in Somalia; the largest is the Turkish Embassy.

The amicable relations between Qatar and Somalia have been improving since Qatar resume its missions in Somalia.

In 2016, Turkey opened its largest embassy in Africa in Mogadishu.

The new facility, which overlooks the popular Lido Beach.
