Somali government has dispatched second consignment of preventive equipment to the regional states in south of the country amid novel Coronavirus cases rise.
According to Somali health ministry, the equipment to prevent spread of Coronavirus was on Sunday sent to both Jubbaland and Southwest states.
The ministry also delivered the equipment to Benadir administration.
“Today Federal Government of #Somalia distributed first consignment of COVID-19 equipment from Jack Ma Foundation (@foundation_ma) to Southwest and Jubaland States as well as Banadir Regional Administration. The same will follow for Galmudug and Hirshabelle tomorrow,” the ministry said Twitter post.
The ministry also plans to send more to Hirshabelle regional states on Monday.
Somalia on Friday confirmed the third case of COVID-19 after two of the persons who was on quarantine tested positive.
Somalia registered the first case mid this month and instituted a raft of measures including banning all international flights and closing learning institutions.
The country remains among countries with few cases of the disease as most African countries record double digit figures.
