The Federal Government of Somalia has mourned the passing of legendary artist and music composer Ahmed Ismail Hussein alias “Hudeydi”.
92 two-year-old “the king of oud” succumbed to CIVID-19 in London hospital on Wednesday.
Somalia’s Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism sent its condolences message to the family and entire music industry fraternity for the loss.
The Minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation, ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad described the diseased as one of the best entertainers of all time.
“It is with deep sadness that I heard the passing of our legend Ahmed Ismail Hussein (Xudeydi). Hudeydi was a genius of the oud, one of the best entertainers of our time. An honest, affable and immensely talented guitarist. We would truly miss him. May Allah bless him with Jannah.” Ambassador Awad tweeted.
Other states across the country such as Puntland regional state and Somaliland administration have issued similar messages of condolences over the passing of late music icon Ahmed Ismail Hussein alias “Hudeydi” in London on Wednesday.
Hudeydi was born in the port city of Berbera in 1928 and rose to become of the most celebrated artist and music composer in the Somali speaking nation.
He rose to fame and played in Somalia during the 1950s and 1960s.
