COVID-19 suspends SNA’s 60th anniversary ceremony

Somali national army has today called off ceremonies across the country to the establishment of the country’s military due to the novel Coronavirus.

The Horn of Africa nation recorded first case Coronavirus mid last month since over twenty have contracted the disease as the death of COVID19 was confirmed on 8th of this month.

In a Facebook post, Somali army chief, Odawa Yussuf Raghe said the events to cerebrate the inception of army have been suspended as there is ongoing gathering ban in the country.

The chief lauded Somali army for their commitment to defend the nation against external and terrorist attacks.

“As today corresponds to the day the army was form, I would like to congratulate all Somali military and their families,” the post reads.

Somalia registered the first case mid last month and instituted a raft of measures including banning all international flights and closing learning institutions as well as public gathering

The country with only 21 cases remains among countries with few cases of the disease.
