The Mayor of Mogadishu who also doubles up as the governor of Banadir region, Omar Mohamed Mohamud alias Omar Filish has relieved the duties from Shibis district commissioner, Abdirahman Sayid Ali on Monday.
Mr. Sayid who was arrested is in custody at criminal investigation department in Mogadishu awaiting investigations for alleged corruption charges.
He is accused of imposing and collecting un-official land revenues on the residents of Shibis district.
Receipts circulated online by some residents indicated USD 12 to be paid by home owners for new registration.
Ex-district commissioner is expected to be arraigned in court to answer the alleged charges in the coming days.
Several Somali government officials have been arrested in recent months in connection to financial mismanagement; they include officials from the ministry of health a week ago.
