Hirshabelle leaders warn against possible flooding

The leaders of Hiran region of Hirshabelle state have on Sunday warned against the possibility of another flooding in Beledweyn and it’s environs.

Led by the governor of Hiran region, Ali Jeyte Osman and flood response committee the team visited key river shabelle flood hot spots and water channels in the agricultural town.

Former regional governor, Omar Adan Ibrahim Badiyow who is coordinating the response team said they are doing all they can to reduce the magnitude and the damages caused by the flooding mainly resulted after the river burst it’s banks following a heavy downpour.

Last year, more than ten people including government officials were killed when their rescue boat capsized in the water.

Properties of the unknown value including farm produce we’re destroyed by the water from river Shabelle.
