Somalia’s Federal health ministry has delivered essential medical supplies to the Afmadow district, Lower Jubba region in Jubbaland state.
The supplies which include face masks, gloves, sanitizers, and other personal protective equipment will be key in curbing the spread of the COVID 19 in the area.
The medical team from the national laboratory also arrived in the area to carry out tests on patients’ hath showed coronavirus symptoms.
Afmadow district administration thanked the federal government for the much need support.
Similar supplies were also dispatched to Galkayo city which is jointly administered by Galmudug and Puntland state respectively.
Health experts also provided capacity building training for local medical workers on ways to curb and handle the spread of coronavirus in the area.
Somalia has recorded 53 new cases on Sunday putting the number of positive cases in the country to 1976 with a death toll of 78 so far.
