SNA kills over 10 al-Shabaab fighters in Southern Somalia

At least thirteen al-Shabaab fighters have been killed and dozens suspected to have sustained injuries after Somali military attacked their base in southern Somalia.

Speaking to the media, Ali Mohamed, commander of Somali Nation Army (SNA)’s 43 Unit said militants were killed an offensive in Banka Jira village of Lower Juba, a military region.

The operations which came as a result of tip off the public took place on Sunday.

“The operation was conducted in Afmadow town and there was a confrontation between the army and the militants and our forces overpowered the extremists,” he said.

Among killed include three senior leaders who were conducting regrouping in the village.

He added that the army also recovered weapons from the militants during the confrontation.
