Somali National Army takes new ground from al-Shabaab

The Somali National Army backed by the Djiboutian troops under AMISOM recaptured Luqa Jelow location, near Beledweyne town from al Shabaab following security operation.

The commander of SNA 27th division General Salah Muse said the troops also freed several young people abducted by the group.

“We freed two young people from their abduction.” Said, General Salah.

He added that the operations will continue until all areas under the control of the group in Middle Shabelle and Hiran is freed.

The new offensive comes a day after al-Shabaab fighters shelled AMISOM base in Beledweyne.

The shelling did not hit its target, but the peacekeeping troops responded with heavy artilleries that were heard all over the city.
