The United Nations Political Office in Somalia has welcomed the planned meeting between the leadership of the Federal Member States in Dhusamareb later this week.
UNSOM said the meeting is a good recipe for the upcoming Federal Government and regional administrations leaders’ forum to discuss contentious national issues including elections and security.
“UNSOM welcomes planned Federal Member States (FMS) leaders’ meeting in Dhusamareb, a prelude to the upcoming Federal Govt.-FMS summit and part of the essential #dialogue on pressing national priorities, including elections, security, and review of the Constitution.”
A joint press release by the leaders confirmed the meeting hosted by President Ahmed Kariye Qorqor of Galmudug state in the administrative capital of Dhusamareb.
The security of the city has been heightened ahead of the arrival of the various delegations expected to land on Wednesday.
The outcome of the meeting will be very crucial for the planned national security council forum scheduled in the capital Mogadishu on an undisclosed date.
