The security of Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug state has been beefed up ahead of the upcoming federal member states leadership forum on Thursday.
Security forces are conducting searches on the vehicles at various checkpoints to preempt possible threats from the armed group al Shabaab.
The President of Galmudug state Ahmed Ali Kariye Qorqor is gearing up to welcome various delegations in the next coming hours before the meeting tomorrow.
Representatives from Hirshabelle state including members of parliament have already arrived for the meeting on Tuesday evening.
The President of Puntland state Saed Abdullahi Deni and his counterpart from Hirshabelle Mohamed Abdi Ware are scheduled to reach the venue by use of road trip while the leaders from Jubbaland and Southwest will arrive by air.
The crucial meeting is expected to agree on the contentious issues surrounding the election model as well as the timetable proposed by the commission before the parliament last month.
The United Nations Political Office in the country has welcomed the meeting saying it is a good recipe for the upcoming Federal Government and regional administrations leaders’ forum to discuss contentious national issues including elections and security.
