Four people have been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a girl in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, the police said.
According to Somali police statement on Saturday, suspects who are in police custody,l are awaiting to be charged over the offence.
They are said to have committed the offence at Waberi district of Mogadishu.
The police said they relied on information from the public to arrest the suspects.
The police and the relatives of the victim have said the victim who was identified as Hamdi Mohamed Farah was allegedly gang-raped and thrown to death from a high rise building.
The victim’s maternal uncle, Ga’al Hussein who spoke to the media said his niece was in her early 20s and had sat for this year’s high school exams.
He called on the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring to book those behind the horrendous act.
According to the uncle, the deceased’s parents live in Galgadud but Hamdi was in Mogadishu for study.
