Kenyan security agencies arrested two Somalis who were preparing to fly out of the country on Monday.
Barre Adam and Osman Mohamed have been arrested at JKIA by police officers for transporting an illegal stimulant plant in their suitcases to an unnamed destination.
According to the police officials, Barre has been arrested for concealing 20Kgs of dried Khat(Miraa) in his two suitcases whereas Osman had concealed 5Kgs of fresh Khat in his six trousers leg area.
The two will be arraigned in court for charged with the offense of exporting concealed goods contrary to Sec 202 (b) of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004.
Somalia banned the import of miraa into the country in May to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the horn of the African nation.
15 out of 27 European Union countries plus Norway also treat Khat as an illegal drug in their borders.
