The Somali police officials in the Adado district of Galmudug state have arrested a suspect connected to a recent gang rape of a girl in the capital Mogadishu.
The police said 24-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim Osman is suspected of being part of a group involved in the gang rape and murder of 19 years of Hamdi Mohaned Farah that took place in Mogadishu last week on Friday.
He fled the scene of the crime to escape the prosecution but the security officials are watchful according to General Zakia Hussein, Somali Police Force Deputy Police boss.
“The police in Adado district of Galmudug state arrested Mohamed Ibrahim Osman, 24, a Mogadishu-born suspect in an operation in Adado late last night on suspicion of being involved in the case of the late Hamdi Mohamed Farah who fled Mogadishu after the incident.” General Zakia tweeted.
She thanked the members of the public for close coordination during the operation process to arrest the wanted suspect.
“We thank the people of Galmudug for assisting the police in apprehending the fugitive, Mohamed Ibrahim Osman.” She said.
