Officials from the Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of Sweden discussed the social-economic progress made following their cooperation.
The topic was discussed during a meeting in Mogadishu between the acting Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Gulaid and the Swedish ambassador Staffan Tillander.
The talks also focused on ways to achieve sustainable development in the horn of the African nation.
“I had productive discussions with Swedish Ambassador Staffan Tillander today. We discussed the socio-economic progress and ways to achieve sustainable development for Somalia. The Swedish Government is an important contributor and partner in our national development.” The office of the caretaker Prime Minister confirmed.
Sweden is one of the four largest bilateral donors in Somalia. Its development organizations have a leading role in the coordination of international aid to the country.
The Swedish-Somali diaspora also plays an important role in development cooperation.
