Somali military has arrested three high ranked leaders of al-shabaab following operation in central Somalia, officials said.
Military officials who spoke to the military owned radio has confirmed that the country’s elite forces destroyed al-shabaab training camp in Hiraan region.
The forces also captured three leaders during the operation at the camp.
According to SNA radio, the trio are Yussuf Hassan Ali, the group’s head of regional head of finance, Ali Abdalla Jiliow, head of radicalisation and head of taxation in Lower and Middle Shabeelle regions, Abdullahi Isack.
The development comes barely a day after the military killed Al-Shabaab head of radicalisation, Sheikh Mohamed Suileman following operations Middle and Lower Shabelle regions.
Recent months, Somali military backed by AMISOM forces has intensified operation to annihilate al-shabaab from southern Somalia.
Al-Shabaab, which once was in control of Somali capital and many other in central and southern Somalia was weakened after its fighters were defeated SNA.
Despite losing large swath territories to Somali military, the group still carries out deadly attacks on military bases and government installation in major towns.
