Somalia’s Under-20 football team is due to leave the country next week for Tanzania where the team will compete in Council for East and Central Africa (Cecafa) Under-20 Championship.
Somalia, which is in Group ‘A’ alongside Djibouti and Tanzania will begin its campaign on Tuesday against Djibouti.
On Thursday next week, the team will also be playing with Tanzania.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided that the Under 20 tournament will be played without fans due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The regional competition will pit nine nations from eastern Africa against one another for the Challenge Cup.
This year’s tournament will be hosted by the 2019 champions, Tanzania in the city of Arusha.
Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Uganda, will participate in the competition.
