Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre, who is the key presidential candidate in the upcoming elections, has apologized for the attack on the office of Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame who is the leader of the Wadajir political party three years ago.
The assault blamed on the Somali intelligence elite squad on 17th December 2017 resulted in the death of the guards while politician Abdishakur sustaining slight injuries.
“I paid a visit to the residence of the leader of the Wadajir party and presidential candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame tonight, where we met in a spirit of brotherhood,” Kheyre said.
“I apologize for what happened to him and his bodyguards on 17 December 2017 in the incident at his residence.”
Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame who spoke on the issue also confirmed the visit and meeting by former premier Kheyre.
“Former Somali Prime Minister and presidential candidate Hassan Kheyre visited us at Wadajir Party headquarters last night. He apologized for the 17th December 2017 attack on the party HQ. ”
The opposition leader also called on other government officials to take a similar path by taking responsibility for their actions.
“We call on other government officials involved in the attack that such an opportunity is still open.”
