At least three people have been killed and five others were injured after a suspected al-shabaab suicide bomber blew himself up at barber in southwest of Somalia.
According sources, Bay governor, Ali Wardhere Doyow has survived the assassination attempt after suicide bomber detonated suicide vest at the barbershop where the governor was getting a haircut.
Two of his bodyguards and the attacker were killed in the blast while five others including three bodyguards sustained injuries.
The explosion came hours after an IED killed two people and injured two others in Mogadishu.
An improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted on a road has hit a car carrying police officer in Mogadishu’s Hilwaa district on mid-morning.
The driver of the car and a civilian who were injured in the attack were rushed to a nearby hospital.
In a statement posted its affiliate online media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attacks in Baidoa and Mogadishu.
